Amantani is an island in Lake Titicaca. No cars or roads, simply a terrace on the hillside for centuries. Additionally, bebatu road that leads to the highest peaks, Pachamama (Mother Earth) and Pachatata (Father Earth).
Exceptionally in January, local residents perform a ritual Fiesta de la Santa Tierra in temples and Pachatata Pachamama. Rituals like this are sometimes also known with Amantani name, where everyone danced until late into the night. If you will stay there overnight, you will enjoy the party that is organized there every night. You will get traditional dresses, and local people will help you learn their traditional dance.
On this tour the islands of Amantani, Uros and Taquile passengers is collected from hotels in downtown Puno to the harbor, where we take our comfortable motor vessel; our guide (Spanish / English) will take us to know the floating islands of the Uros (30 min trip), before arriving at Amantani (approx. 2 ½ hours) to the medium average day, where we expect the families of Amantani.
We will walk (30 min uphill) to local houses Amantani Island Andean lunch meal prepared by the islanders; then to rest and settle in rooms, walk to the top of the island and see the Inca ceremonial temples Pachamama and Pachatata; also remain to see one of the best sunsets in the world; then return to local homes for dinner, and at night we are going to dance with the families (the welcome party is optional and depends on the physical condition of the traveler)).
After our breakfast, we descend to the port of Amantani (8 am) to take our boat towards the Taquile Island, walk to the Main square, where we will have the best views of the island, we will visit the craft market, municipal museum, lunch and finally return to the Port of Amantani (1:00 pm.) to return to Puno. We will arrive to 4:00 pm approximately.
